In his narrative, Frederick Douglass explained how he got ahold of his citys paper, which contained an account of the number of petitions from the north, praying for the abolition of slavery in the District of Columbia, and of the slave trade between the States. Because of abolitionists trying to eliminate slavery, slave owners became upset because slaves inexpensively helped them with either of the owners desire. With slave owners upset with abolitionists and vice versa, the resultin g factor of this would be a scratchy relati! onship.
